There was an explosive pop, followed by a power outage for much of the Johnston’s Crossing neighborhood in Mableton this morning. According to the Georgia Power technician who investigated the outage a squirrel exploring a transformer on Brookside Drive had electrocuted himself, knocking out electrical service to the area.
The technician estimated that power would be restored before noon.
