Two of the suspects in a robbery near Hicks and Austell roads were bound over to Superior Court for trial. After testimony from Detective J Cason of the Cobb County Police Department, Chief Magistrate Court Judge Joyette Holmes found probable cause for the suspects, Akeem Weeks and Damir Briglevich, both of Marietta, to stand trial. The incident took place in a house on Walnut Circle.
According to the testimony by Cason, Weeks and another individual planned to burglarize the house, and Damir Briglevich was to wait in a car outside and blow the horn if anyone arrived. But the burglary soon turned into an armed robbery.
The owner of the house, Peter Lee, 63, arrived and interrupted the two men in the house. They donned ski masks and pointed four pistols at Lee, who raised his hands and begged the suspects not to kill him. The suspects then took Lee’s house and car keys, $400 in cash, and a necklace and dog tags, pushed Lee into the den, and ran out the door.
It was later discovered that an iPhone belonging to Lee’s wife, Anh Tuong, was also missing.
A neighbor from across the street observed the suspects and a silver Toyota Camry with a Tennessee tag in front of Lee’s house. With the neighbor’s description, police were able to locate the car at an apartment complex on Favor Road. Police ran the tag and the car had been reported stolen.
The driver of the car, Briglevich, was detained and agreed to talk to Detective Cason, who had been called onto the scene by the uniformed officers. With information from Briglevich police located and arrested Weeks.
Weeks was bound over to Superior Court for trial on charges of first-degree burglary, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Briglevich was bound over on charges of armed robbery and theft by receiving (for possession of the stolen car).
No bond was set for either suspect.
