Whitten names Jeff Delaney new Kennesaw State CIO

Kennesaw State University President Pamela Whitten appointed Jeff Delaney as chief information officer, according to a news release from the university posted on Friday.  He will take the position effective August 6. Delaney has been the interim CIO since February.

According to the news release from KSU, Delaney “will be responsible for the strategic vision of the University Information Technology Services division, forecasting and analyzing institutional needs and appropriate IT resource allocations and alignment.”

Whitten said in the news release, “As interim CIO, Jeff has demonstrated his ability to lead a team and deliver results-oriented technology solutions. His professionalism and vision are assets that will continue to serve our students, faculty and staff.”

Previously, Delaney was the associate vice chancellor for Information Technology Services with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and served as Savannah State University’s CIO.

I look forward to working with our students, faculty and staff as we strive to make Kennesaw State the best place to learn,” Delaney said in the news release.

Past positions

According to his LinkedIn page, he began his career in information technology as the Academic Computing Coordinator at Middle Georgia College in 1994. Other workplaces, in addition to his positions at Savannah State and the Board of Regents, include eProviders, Inc., Macon State University, and Georgia College & State University.

Education

He received his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems at the University of Maryland in 1995, and a Master of Science degree in Information Systems Management from Georgia College & State University in 2000.

In 2011, he earned his doctorate in executive management in higher education from the University of Georgia.
