The clouds moved away and the sun burst through just in time for the ribbon cutting at Isabella’s Pizza and Wings this afternoon. Customers, staff, and Austell officials gathered in front of the store as owner Carlos Bickers, and his daughter Isabella (who the restaurant is named for) cut the ceremonial ribbon.
Isabella’s has been operating several days a week for lunch after a soft opening in December, but now the restaurant is officially opened.
Before the ceremony Bickers told the Courier, “Things are going great, everybody’s came out, we’re glad to see the city’s behind us, and we’re really looking forward to growing and being a part of the community. The soft opening period was great, we got a lot of feedback from our customer base, and we made some changes to help accommodate what our customer base was looking for.”
Austell Mayor Pro-tem Ollie Clemons said, “We’re just very excited about another new business opening up in Austell, and Carlos is no stranger to us, he’s owned a business in Austell for years. He sold that one and opened this one so he’s bought into what’s going on here with the growth and development and the new businesses in Austell, and we’re just extremely excited to see it happen.”
Ward 1 city councilman Marlin Lamar said, “We’re just very excited about another new business opening up in Austell, and Carlos is no stranger to us, he’s owned a business in Austell for years. He sold that one and opened this one so he’s bought into what’s going on here with the growth and development and the new businesses in Austell, and we’re just extremely excited to see it happen.”
Lamar’s father at one time ran a department store in the building now occupied by Isabella’s. It operated from 1952 to 1987, he said.
Isabella’s Pizza and Wings is located at 2805 Veterans Memorial Highway directly across from the railroad crossing.
