Thursday there will be overnight lane and ramp closures on I-75 in the Marietta area.
According to a press release from the Georgia Department of Transportation, GDOT contractors will implement the closures to continue milling, inlay and resurfacing activities.
The press release states, “Weather permitting, on Thursday, April 25, beginning at 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, one right lane and right shoulder lane will be closed on I-75 southbound between the South Marietta Parkway and Delk Road exits. In addition, the entrance ramp to South Marietta Parkway from I-75 southbound will be closed to traffic. Message boards will detour traffic to US 41, then to Delk Road to access I-75 southbound.”
There will be overhead signs and message boards to alert drivers of the closures in advance and the signs will direct drivers to the next open exit to access I-75.
The GDOT said that major closures like this reduce prolonged impacts to drivers by condensing the crews and equipment needed, and that they ensure safety of road workers and drivers.
The project is scheduled for completion before the end of Spring.
The press release states, “As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.”
