By Laura Judge

You should consider voting for me because my campaign is firmly rooted in a deep commitment to our children’s education and the community’s well-being. I am Laura Judge, running for Cobb County School Board Post 5, and I bring a blend of personal involvement, professional experience, and a proactive approach to addressing the challenges our schools face.

Experience and Dedication

My journey started long before my candidacy. As a parent of students within the system, I have firsthand experience of the strengths and weaknesses in our school district. My professional background with process improvement and my active participation at school board meetings and with student-focused community organizations have equipped me with a clear understanding of many of the policy, administrative, and fiscal complexities that our school district faces.

Platform and Vision

My platform focuses on three critical areas:

1. Enhancing Educational Quality and Success – I am dedicated to prioritizing literacy and finding ways to support children with special needs and/or those with 504 and IEP plans best. I will also focus on academic programs that cater to the needs of all students. This includes expanding access to advanced STEM courses, arts, and vocational training which prepare students not just for tests, but for real-world challenges.

2. Improving School Safety and Mental Health Resources – In light of growing concerns surrounding student safety and mental well-being, I will work with other board members to implement comprehensive safety protocols coupled with accessible mental health resources. This dual approach ensures a nurturing environment conducive to both learning and personal growth.

3. Ensuring Financial Transparency – I am committed to overseeing responsible budgeting that prioritizes classroom needs and teacher support over administrative overhead. Transparency in financial decisions is crucial to regain and maintain public trust and ensure that every dollar spent is an investment in our children’s future. I will advocate for a return to the policy that includes all taxpayer voices during budget and millage rate hearings.

Commitment to Community Engagement

I believe that effective governance in education requires active community involvement. I plan to foster a collaborative environment where parents, teachers, and students are regular contributors to our policy-making processes. My approach includes regular town halls, accessible communication channels, and decision-making frameworks that consider the voices of those directly affected by our policies.

A Vote for the Future

Voting for me means supporting a vision of a school system that values every student’s potential. It means endorsing a move towards a future where education is reflective of the highest standards of excellence.

Why Me?

I stand out as a candidate because of my genuine passion for this work. I’m not just running for a position. I’m advocating for a cause that affects every family in our community. My commitment goes beyond this election cycle. It is about laying down a foundation that will support generations to come.

I ask for your vote not just as a candidate but as a fellow parent, community member, and neighbor who believes in the transformative power of education. Let’s work together to make Cobb County schools a beacon of success and innovation along with the leadership to match. Learn more at https://LauraJudge.com
