Avid community volunteer Barry Krebs submitted the following reports and photos from two recent community service events: a golf tournament to support the work of the Sweetwater Mission, and a Service Sunday volunteer event hosted by the On Mission Church.

Sweetwater Mission Golf Tournament

Barry submitted the following report and photos:

Sweetwater Mission hosted their annual golf tournament fundraiser at the beautiful Hilton in Marietta Golf Course. All of the participants had a great time as rain only slowed them down twice. Everyone appreciates the Sweetwater Mission Board and staff who worked the booths and made the preparations. Additional help was provided by the South Cobb Rotary Club and Lions Club. Most of all, we appreciate the sponsors who make it possible to serve the hungry families in Cobb, Fulton and Douglas Counties.

Service Sunday

Barry submitted the following report and photos:

On Mission Church hosted their annual “Serve Sunday” event where members of the church volunteer to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving others and giving the glory to our Lord. The teams went in many different directions after the brief music and prayer segment was completed. Some teams went to assemble blessing bags to be given out to the homeless, other teams went to the Silver Comet Trail to hand out water, one group helped HOPE Family Resource Center just to name a few causes. Keep Cobb Beautiful provided the supplies for the litter cleanup of the church’s adopted Fontaine Road from the East West Connector to Floyd Road. Sixteen bags of litter were removed from the area. The road looks fantastic now. The City Of Mableton Councilwoman, Patty Auch and Lions Club members joined in the fun too.

If you are looking for a church that cares about the community, please pay On Mission Church a visit on Sundays at 10:30 AM. They are working hard to keep Mableton a terrific place to live and worship.
