An arrest was made in the August collision on Favor Road that left a 62-year-old man hospitalized with disabling and life-threatening injuries.

A public information release from Officer Sydney Melton of the Cobb County Police Department stated that an arrest warrant for Marlon Pollock, 41, was obtained from the Cobb County Magistrate’s Office yesterday.

He is charged with the misdemeanor reckless driving and the felony serious injury by vehicle.

Pollock turned himself in to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Distracted driving is suspected to be a contributing factor to this collision. Bobby Miller, 62, remains hospitalized with serious injuries including quadriplegia.

Serious Injury Vehicle Collision

The Cobb County Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury vehicle collision that occurred in Precinct Three on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 1:55 p.m. on Austell Road near Favor Road.

Per investigators, a white 2017 Chevrolet Sonic was traveling east on Austell Road in the left travel lane. A white 2013 VIP Moped was traveling east on Austell Road in the left travel lane. The Chevrolet collided into the rear of the Moped as it was slowing down to enter the left turn lane. The driver of the Moped was ejected.

The driver of the VIP Moped was identified as 62-year-old Bobby L. Miller. He was transported to Kennestone Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Sonic was identified as 41-year-old Marlon Pollock. Mr. Pollock was not injured in the collision.

The collision remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.

The STEP Unit

The STEP Unit, which investigates serious or fatal traffic crashes, is one of the Cobb County Police Department’s Special Operations units, and is described on the web page of the Cobb County Police Department as follows:

“The Selective Traffic Enforcement Unit is responsible for investigating all fatal traffic crashes, enforcement of traffic laws in those areas which analysis indicates an elevated amount of crashes. They are also responsible for the administration and execution of the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program. They also take part in special security details, and investigate crashes involving Department vehicles when requested.”
