Free Educational Program Provides Guidance on Hospice and Palliative Care Options

ACAP Cobb & Cherokee distributed the following announcement of a free program to educate residents on the options available at end of life:

ACAP Cobb & Cherokee will host a free educational program, “Introduction to Hospice & Palliative Care,” on April 16 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. EDT at Covenant Presbyterian Church – Kapperman-Williams Hall, 2881 Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30066.

When facing a serious illness, understanding available care options can bring clarity, comfort, and peace of mind. This informative program is designed to help adult children, caregivers, and families better understand the compassionate support offered through hospice and palliative care.

While both hospice and palliative care focus on easing symptoms, reducing stress, and improving quality of life for patients and families, there are important differences between the two. This session will explain how each type of care works, when it may be appropriate, and how to access local services.

Participants will also gain insight into what to expect when working with hospice and palliative care providers, as well as the emotional and legal considerations that often accompany these decisions. Whether planning ahead or responding to an immediate need, attendees will leave with practical knowledge and greater confidence in navigating care options.

The program will be presented by Cory and Shelly Elliott of Trinity Hospice Care of Georgia.

ACAP Cobb & Cherokee is a chapter of ACAP community, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting adult children caring for aging parents. The chapter provides free, monthly educational programs offering valuable information, resources, and community.

The program is free and open to the public. To register or learn more, visit www.acapcommunity.org/cobbcherokee or contact cobbcherokee@acapcommunity.org.
