In keeping with the Cobb County Public Library’s dino-theme, West Cobb Regional Library has scheduled a few related events along the lines of its Thursday Explorers and 5-Minute Crafts.
Of the weekly Thursday Explorers events, the relatable We Dig These Stories leads the library’s dino-theme programming on June 4th. While the focus of this event is dirt-themed stories, understanding dirt and the things that live and grow in it is helpful to future paleontologists and their understanding of fossils and excavations. To this, dirt stories will provide a foundation for children to create their own dinosaur scene during the third Thursday Explorers event, Dino Dioramas, on June 18th.
All Thursday Explorer events begin at 2 PM and are intended for children 4-8 years of age. Each event will have guest presenters.
Conversely, each of the two 5-Minute Crafts is a Saturday event, occurring at 12 PM. The first, Bottlecap Dino Magnet, is on June 6th; and the second, Air-Dry Clay Dinosaur Eyes, is on June 12th.
Both events are billed as a quick craft project between summer readings and fun. With the Bottlecap Dino Magnet involving a tiny resin dinosaur, it seems the most interesting dino event. The Air-Dry Clay Dinosaur Eyes event appears similar to the Mountain View Library’s Dinosaur Eye Craft (June 30th), but with a focus on scales, West Cobb’s Dinosaur Eyes may prove more intriguing between the two.

- Fearless Art (tweens and teens 9-17), Saturday, June 20th at 1:30 PM
