The search for a missing toddler has come to a tragic end in Marietta.
Marietta police say 2-year-old Messiah Harris was found dead at about 7:30 p.m. in a wooded area behind an apartment complex at 8 Ridge Run.
They were called to the apartments at 8 Ridge Run just before 2 p.m. on a missing child report. An extensive search ensued.
Authorities say the individual who was watching him told police he had last seen the child at around 1:30 p.m. But a Marietta PD news release said indications were that Messiah’s body had been in the woods “for a considerable amount of time.”
The Cobb County Medical examiner’s office has been called in to investigate the time and cause of death.
Marietta Police continue their probe as well.
They say Messiah was to have turned 3 in a few weeks.
