Great Southeast Pollinator Census: August 22-23
The annual Great Southeast Pollinator Census helps scientists gather data about pollinators so we can better protect these critical members of our ecosystems. If you’d like to participate, you can drop by the Smyrna Recycling Center (3475 Lake Dr), pick up a counting sheet, and observe in the Pollinator Pocket garden located at the center. This is an independent, self-directed activity. You can also take part in the census from any location! Learn more at https://gsepc.org/
KSB Volunteer Leadership Opportunities: August 24 & September 11
KSB is looking for lead volunteers to guide cleanups, garden workdays, and more! Our next Lead Volunteer training is Monday, August 24, from 6pm to 7:30pm. You must be at least 18 years of age. Register today! For volunteers interested in working outreach events, join us for a virtual training to become an outreach volunteer! This online lunchtime training will give you the background you need to independently represent KSB at local event. Register today.
Document Shredding: September 19
Save the date for Keep Smyrna Beautiful’s fall document shredding event from 9am to 12pm at the Aline Wolfe Adult Recreation Center (884 Church St., Smyrna). Securely shred and recycle your document for free! Paper only. Binders, clips, and folders must be removed prior. No charge, but donations are accepted. Traffic note: to avoid blocking the road, left turns from Church St. onto Aline Wolfe Dr. will not be permitted. Please approach Church St. from S. Bulky Trash Amnesty Day (for City of Smyrna residents only): October 17
Got big items you need to toss? Smyrna residents can drop off bulky trash items for FREE at this amnesty event. This is for City of Smyrna residents only. Rivers Alive: October 24
Join Keep Smyrna Beautiful, Cobb County Water System, and the National Park Service as we roll up our sleeves for this statewide Rivers Alive event! We’ll be picking up litter along the tributaries that feed into the Chattahoochee River. Spots fill up fast, and registration is required to participate.
