Cobb & Douglas Public Health Increases Access to Blood Pressure Checks Throughout Cobb & Douglas Counties with Local Partners

Cobb & Douglas Public Health distributed the following news release about its program to encourage blood pressure monitoring:

Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH), Wellstar and the American Heart Association (AHA) have been working with local organizations to increase access to blood pressure checks throughout the community via outreach and newly installed blood pressure monitoring stations.

With the help of CDPH and Cobb American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, stations have been installed at the North Cobb and Austell Senior Centers as well as the Senior Wellness Center in Cobb County. The Family Restoration Life Center in Mableton has also received a blood pressure station.

This fall, the Douglas County Public Library and Douglas County Senior Centers will have blood pressure monitoring stations with the help of AHA.

Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) Partnership grant funds from CDPH helped Wellstar Community Health and Wellstar Foundation to put stations up in local churches. Recipients include Christ Anglican Church in Cobb County as well as Douglasville First United Methodist Church, Golden Memorial United Methodist Church and New Mountain Top Baptist Church in Douglas County.

“It is great to see local partners joining resources to increase access to care and improve health outcomes in our community,” said Jazmyn McCloud, Health Equity and Community Engagement Director. “Public health works best when we come together, leverage our collective strengths, and make the most of the resources available. It truly takes a village to build healthier communities.”

CDPH has a blood pressure program to help residents with hypertension manage their health. In addition, CDPH’s Clinical Outreach team provides blood pressure checks at community events. For more information or to make an appointment, visit www.cobbanddouglaspublichealth.org or call (770) 513-2300.
