Cobb Water System officials say a 720-gallon sewage overflow happened on Sunday in South Cobb, but was quickly cleaned up.
Authorities say the mishap occurred on Conductor Way in Mableton and was caused by grease. The spilled sewage made its way to Floyd Lake, which feeds Clay Branch.
Officials say the issue was noted at 10:54 p.m. and cleanup finished at 12:54 a.m.
Crews used a jet machine and degreaser to clear the spill and blockage, then washed the roadway in front of the affected storm drain.
Workers at the scene said they didn’t spot any fish kills in either the waterway or the lake.
