According to an announcement on the city’s website, the City of Powder Springs is accepting applications for its Fall 2026 Neighborhood Beautification Grant program, offering up to $4,000 to help fund improvements to neighborhood entrances, common areas and building exteriors.

Grants ranging from $500 to $4,000 are available to eligible homeowners associations, neighborhood organizations, multifamily residential property owners and similar groups within the Powder Springs city limits. Applications must be submitted electronically by 5 p.m. Sept. 30.

Applicants are required to provide a 100% match to the grant award. The match can include a combination of money and in-kind contributions, such as donated materials or equipment, volunteer labor or labor donated by contractors and other vendors.

Neighborhood organizations applying for funding must be open to anyone living in the neighborhood who meets membership requirements, with membership focused on a specific geographic area.

Eligible projects are limited to exterior improvements to common areas, neighborhood entrances and buildings in single-family residential neighborhoods and multifamily residential properties within Powder Springs.

Examples include installing neighborhood identification signs, organizing neighborhood cleanups, constructing playground equipment in a vacant or public area and planting a community garden.

Projects involving roof repair or replacement, security systems, interior improvements, purchases of personal property or equipment and general maintenance other than exterior painting are not eligible. Projects where work has already begun also cannot receive funding.

The city will prioritize projects that are highly visible to the public, improve the community’s appearance and promote the historic or unique character of an area. Preference will also be given to older neighborhoods and properties with greater needs.

Projects will be evaluated based on how well they meet the program’s objectives and their feasibility, including plans for ongoing maintenance when applicable. Improvements must also be appropriate for existing structures and their location, including complementary design, scale, style, colors, materials and finishes.

At least one grant will be awarded in each Powder Springs City Council ward, and at least one will be awarded within the city’s Livable Centers Initiative study area.

Grant decisions are expected during the week of Nov. 2. Projects receiving funding must be completed by April 1, 2027.
