A former Acworth and Emerson, Ga. police officer has been charged with misusing the Flock Safety camera surveillance system designed to read license plates and give vehicle details.-a program both departments utilize.
Acworth police say once they became aware of the initial misuse allegations involving one of their own, they turned the probe over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (to read the GBI’s public information release about the arrest, follow this link). The state agency says the misuse continued after the suspect took a job with the Emerson Police Dept. in 2025.
Anthony Trapani, 32, of Rockmart was charged with two counts of misusing a license plate reader and one count of violation of oath of office.
Trapani turned himself in on Monday and was booked into the Cobb County jail. He no longer works with the Emerson Police.There was no information on what the alleged misuse entailed.
