The City of Acworth is working on upgrading its trail system.

The mayor of Acworth, members of the Board of Alderman and the Acworth Lake Authority held a Thursday groundbreaking ceremony for a new trail segment originating near Due West and Ragsdale roads. The segment is part of a partnership with Cobb County through the 2022 SPLOST and will be a 10-foot wide multi-use path for walking and biking.

Also included will be stormwater improvements, speed reduction islands and crosswalks.

Officials say the trail will serve 400 residential properties and is designed to provide connectivity to the city’s downtown core. They also say the new pavement will increase mobility and recreation in the city.
