Georgia gas prices fall 8 cents to $3.65 a gallon

Georgia’s average price for regular gasoline fell 8 cents over the past week to $3.65 a gallon, according to AAA. Drivers are paying 51 cents less than a month ago but 86 cents more than a year ago.

At the statewide average, filling a 15-gallon tank costs about $54.75. Prices are subject to overnight changes.

The suspension of Georgia’s state gas tax, the switch to lower-cost winter-blend gasoline and reduced seasonal travel demand are helping bring prices down, AAA reported. Elevated crude oil prices continue to limit those savings.

“Georgians are seeing some relief at the pump, with prices averaging 63 cents below the national average,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “While seasonal factors are helping push prices lower, drivers can save even more by comparing prices, using fuel rewards and combining errands.”

Atlanta average at $3.68 a gallon

Atlanta’s average price was $3.68 a gallon, placing it among Georgia’s most expensive metro markets. Savannah had the highest average at $3.70, followed by Atlanta and Gainesville at $3.67.

The least expensive metro markets were Albany at $3.46, Brunswick at $3.52 and Warner Robins at $3.58.

EV Charging Rates

EV charging rates were hovering around 42 cents per kilowatt hour at commercial DC fast charging stations nationally.  In Georgia the average price was just under 41 cents.

Home charging is much cheaper, particularly during overnight off-peak hours.  Check your local utility provider for rates.

What about the price of gasoline in Cobb County?

The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded in Cobb County was $3.67, about two cents more than the statewide average.

National average slips to $4.28

The national average for regular gasoline declined 1 cent over the week to $4.28 a gallon. That compares with $4.49 a month ago and $3.05 a year ago.

Although winter-blend gasoline is helping hold prices down, crude oil prices above $100 a barrel continue to put upward pressure on fuel costs, according to AAA.

AAA said October is on track to have the highest national average gasoline price of any October on record, following record-setting prices for August and September.
