Cobb County Elections and Voter Registration officials say a recent “districting error” impacted voting in one precinct in the county and involved what’s being called a “limited” number of voters.. They say the problem was discovered only after in-person advance voting had begun, making it impossible to change the ballot.

As a result of the flub, voters in the Sewell Mill 01 precinct will see the uncontested race for House District 43 where Solomon Adesanya is on their ballot) when they should have seen the House District 37 race, where Mary Frances Williams is unopposed. They say as a  result of both candidates running unopposed, the results of the election won’t change.

Cobb officials say the error happened as ballot combinations were loaded for the 2026 election cycle and an audit confirmed that no other precincts or races are involved.  They also said the issue is confined to the 2026 election cycle.

Notices about the slipup will be posted at the Sewell Mill 01 precinct and at all advance voting locations. Also as a result of the mishap, any votes cast in the HD43 race by Sewell 01 electors will not be counted toward final vote totals.
