Bids underway for design of sidewalks and multi-use trail on Mableton Parkway

Existing conditions on Mableton Parkway

On August 14th the Cobb County Department of Transportation opened “non-cost technical proposals for Engineering Consulting Services” for the design of planned sidewalks and other pedestrian improvements for Mableton Parkway between Discovery Boulevard and Factory Shoals Road.  What this means is that qualified engineering firms may present plans for how they would carry out the work specified in the Request For Proposal outlined on the Cobb County DOT website.

The plans include a ten foot wide multi-use trail for cyclists and pedestrians on the west side of Mableton Parkway, and a five foot wide sidewalk on the east side of the road.  The total distance 2.39 miles long.

The sidewalks and path will be built using funds from the 2011 SPLOST.  There will be a public hearing for input.  We’ll post the date and time of the hearing when it is announced.
