Officer Chuck McPhilamy of the Marietta Police Department issued a public information release reporting that a multi-vehicle rollover accident occured on Cobb Parkway at the Canton Road Connector, resulting in multiple serious injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the Marietta Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit.

Investigators report that at about 1:24 p.m. Monday afternoon, September 26, a 2001 Honda Prelude driven by an 18-year-old Marietta man was making a U-turn at the intersection. The Honda crossed into the path of a 2021 GMC Sierra driven by a 26-year-old Marietta woman.

There were two additional passengers in the Sierra.

All four involved people were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.

The public information release states, “Due to the extent of the damage to both vehicles, Southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway were closed for approximately three hours.”

Charges have not yet been filed. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Investigator St. Onge at 770-794-5352.
