According to a press release from Nelly Miles, the Public Affairs Director for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Kennesaw Police Department requested a GBI investigation into officer-involved  gunfire that took place on Moon Station Road in Kennesaw.

The preliminary information is that KPD Patrol Officers saw a local Texaco station being burglarized Monday morning. They confronted the subjects, identified as 3 to 4 males. According to the report, the officers and the suspects exchanged gunfire. The suspects then fled in a vehicle. Kennesaw police gave chase but lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle was located on the Kennesaw State University Campus. The subjects have not been located but are not believed to be in the KSU area.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

The report states, “The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Cobb County District Attorney’s office for review.”
