Once again there will be overnight lane closures on South Cobb Drive between Austell Road and the I-75 northbound lanes for ongoing road work on the northern portion of the highway.

Single lanes will close from 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5 until 5:00 a.m. Monday, May 6.  

According to a press release from Tori Brown of the Georgia Department of Transportation, “These closures are designed to help ensure safety for workers and drivers during patching the roadway, initial preparation for milling, inlay and resurfacing work that will improve the road’s deteriorating condition. The project is scheduled for completion in late fall 2019. “

The GDOT advises motorists traveling in the area to reduce their speeds in the work zone.

“Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions,” according to the press release.
