GSO and Marietta’s 2025 Chamber Concert Series Begins
The Chamber Series begins on November 14 with “Dances from the New World” featuring Jeanne Carere, GSO Principal Flute and John Huston, classical guitar. Listeners can expect elegant melodies and rhythmic vitality, tracing lively dances across North and South American soundscapes.

Senior Services Field Trip: Aviation History & Tech Center/Marietta Station

The Cobb Senior Services web site gives this description of the field trip:
We will begin our tour at the Aviation History & Technology Center to learn local aviation and military history. Afterwards, we will head over to the Marietta Station for lunch. Payment due at registration. Registration deadline: November 10. Price includes transportation and admission. Lunch will be incurred independently. No refunds will be given unless the trip is cancelled. Activity Level 4 – Long periods of walking, many stairs, and/or inclines, limited seated breaks. Mobility Requirements – travelers must be able to navigate on and off the bus independently. If you have any concerns with walking or climbing stairs, please check with staff before registering. Please note: to ensure smooth operations, keep to our planned itinerary, and avoid impacting other passengers, buses are scheduled to depart at a designated time and cannot wait for late arrivals.
B. E. S.T. Diabetes: Take Charge at the Tim Lee Senior Center

Dive deeper into understanding and managing your Diabetes during this interactive, 4-week course, meeting weekly for 2 hours. Informative for those with pre-diabetes or a family history of diabetes. Presented by B.E.S.T. (Broadening & Enriching Seniors Together). Our volunteer is a Retired Nurse Practitioner and certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.

Big Shanty Bazaar — A Renaissance Festival in Kennesaw

Hear ye, hear ye! Upon the 15th day of November, from the hours of 10:00 am – 4:00pm, Ye Olde Art Station – Big Shanty shall be hosting the first ever Renaissance Festival in Kennesaw!
This festival of merriment shall unveil 30+ local merchants and artisans, who present their craftworks, exquisite arts, and beyond! We shall also host live artisans showcasing their craft in leatherwork, painting, blacksmithing, and live portraits. With additional pastimes such as pony rides, live musicians, face painting, noble knights, axe throwing, and a costume contest, merriment for the whole family shall surely abound! Free goodies shall be bestowed upon the day’s first visitors, including a complimentary tote bag, felt pennant, stickers, and buttons (whilst stocks last!).
The illustrious Big Shanty Bazaar shall transpire alongside the gathering for Illuminated, an exhibition showcasing wondrous artworks inspired by both the Renaissance and Medieval age.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!Privet is a non-native nuisance plant that outcompetes native species. We’ll be removing privet from the landscape to help restore habitat and native plant species.
We will provide tools that pull the privet right out by its roots. We will also provide gardening gloves, but you may bring and use your own.
Dress accordingly for the weather and bring your own water bottle. If we’re working by a creek, you do not have to get your feet wet.

Free Ukelele Lessons at the Sweetwater Valley Library

Join us at Sweetwater Valley Library for free ukulele lessons for those 7 years and older on Saturdays at 12:30 pm. Lessons are taught by members of the West Georgia Ukulele Ensemble. Ukuleles are available for one-week checkouts by library patrons at the circulation desk.
