Cobb’s water operations are in new hands.
Alicia Giddens began work as Cobb Water System Director Monday, after being appointed to the post last week by the Board of Commissioners.
Giddens has been with the agency for more than 30 years, joining in 1995 as an environmental compliance technician. She’s held a number of positions in the department, including laboratory superintendent and environmental compliance division manager.
Most recently she was the department;s deputy director. She served under Judy Jones, who’s retirement was announced in December.
The new director is a graduate of Kennesaw State University with a major in biology and minor in chemistry.
About the Cobb Water System
We take it for granted that when we turn on the spigot, safe, drinkable water will pour out except in extraordinary circumstances.
If you live in unincorporated Cobb or the cities of Acworth, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, or Mableton, it’s the Cobb County Water System (CCWS) that makes sure that happens.
Since 1941, CCWS us the utility responsible for water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and stormwater management in its designated areas of the county.
