More on Smyrna’s proposed distracted driving ordinance

Smyrna City Hall in article about Smyrna millage rate

There has been a discussion on social media about the details of Smyrna’s proposed ordinance restricting the use of cell phones in vehicles.  I requested a copy of the ordinance from the city clerk, and I’ve embedded it below.  It forbids the use of mobile devices (like cell phones) while you are operating a vehicle unless the device is configured for hands-free use.  Bear in mind that this is a draft ordinance.  Changes might be made before it is adopted, or it might even be rejected.  But this is the proposed ordinance as it is now being considered. Scroll through the pages by using the up and down arrows at the bottom of the embedded PDF.
