[Editor’s note: a spokesperson for one of the companies mentioned in the article indicated that the original article did not make the division of labor among companies involved in the entire Riverview Landing project clear enough. Upon reflection, I think he is correct, and have made an edit to the original article to clarify the roles of the companies involved.]

Construction on Riverview Landing, the mixed-use development on the Chattahoochee, has begun after languishing on hold for years.  According to an announcement from Prestwick Companies, The Eddy at Riverview Landing is scheduled for opening in the spring of 2019.  It will include 310 Class A apartments, a coffee shop, a community theater, a kayak launch, walking and biking trails, and a public park that will become a Smyrna city park upon completion.

Prestwick is the developer for the multi-family component of Riverview Landing, Avalon Real Estate Partners will build 298 for-sale homes at a later date, Matrix Residential is the property management firm for the project, and the master developer is The Ardent Companies.

In the press release, Chuck Young, senior vice president of development at Prestwick, said, “There are very few residential communities in metro Atlanta that provide an opportunity to live on the Chattahoochee River and enjoy accessible waterfront space.  The Eddy at Riverview Landing combines upscale living with a diverse menu of river-related activities and provides the city of Smyrna with its own public riverfront park. We’re pleased to offer this one-of-a-kind opportunity to future residents and guests, and are excited to redevelop an area of the river that will create an authentic outdoor experience that differentiates The Eddy from nearby apartment communities. We look forward to sharing more news on our progress in the days ahead.”

The announcement included the following descriptions of Prestwick and Riverview Landing:
