According to Officer Sydney Melton of the Cobb County Police Department, three men, two from Mableton and one from Smyrna, were arrested and charged in connection with a murder on Hickory Trail in Mableton.

On July 22 just after midnight, Precinct 2 officers responded to a report of gunshots on Hickory Trail. They discovered the body of Anthony Vela, 24, of Mableton. (Next of kin has been notified).

A witness reported that a person in a silver sedan with a rear spoiler was involved.

After further investigation, the three suspects in the crime were identified, arrested, and charged.

The suspects, two of them 19 years old and one 23 years of age, are in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
