Officer Chuck McPhilamy of the Marietta Police Department announced in a public information release that the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) Unit is investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a car.
The incident took place on South Marietta Parkway at Lower Roswell Road May 4 at about 9:43 p.m.

Investigators said that a twenty-year-old Marietta man attempted to cross South Marietta Parkway outside of a crosswalk.
They state that a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a twenty-year-old Decatur woman struck the man when he “darted … into (the) lane of travel.”
The pedestrian was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with additional information is urged to contact Officer Nick St. Onge at (770) 794-5352.
