According to a public information release from Officer Chuck McPhilamy of the Marietta Police Department, the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a serious injury collision that occurred on May 10, 2023, at approximately 2:08 a.m. on Roswell Road at Cobb Parkway.
Investigators report that a 20-year-old Dallas, Georgia woman driving a Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on Cobb Parkway when she attempted to make a right turn onto Roswell Road at a high rate of speed.
She failed to maintain her lane and struck a Tesla 3 which was stopped at a traffic signal. The left rear passenger of the Tesla suffered life-threatening injuries and both rear passengers were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI, Serious Injury by Vehicle and other traffic-related charges.
