The Marietta Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating a traffic incident in which a pedestrian was fatally injured that occurred on Monday, August 28, 2023, at approximately 8:03 p.m. on Franklin Gateway near Delk Road.

The public information release described the incident as follows:
“The initial on scene investigation revealed that a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan was traveling Northbound on Franklin Gateway.
“A pedestrian was walking Southbound on Franklin Gateway.
“For reasons unknown, the male pedestrian stepped out into the roadway and was struck by the Dodge Grand Caravan.
“The pedestrian was transported to WellStar Kennestone ER with life threatening injuries, where he succumbed to his injuries.
“Investigators are still working to identify the pedestrian and notify next of kin.
“The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Officer P. Wishon at 770-794-5384.”
