Avid community volunteer Barry Krebs submitted the following report with photos about the planting of a willow oak, Mableton’s official tree, in Thompson Park:

The City Of Mableton Sustainability, Cobb County Parks, Georgia Native Plant
Society and Trees Atlanta worked together to plant a beautiful Willow Oak
(City of Mableton’s official tree) at Thompson Park.  As soon as the rain
slowed, Michael with Trees Atlanta showed the City of Mableton’s City
Council how to plant and care for the tree.  There were also Willow Oak
saplings available for the attendees.  The Cobb Collaborative, Paint Love
and the South Cobb Lions Club were present for the event as well.  It was a
very special occasion to signify the first of many trees that will beautify
our community
