Eighteen local Y branches offer extended care hours and themed weekly programming to keep children engaged all summer long
With summer break around the corner, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta is encouraging the community to take advantage of its 2026 Summer Day Camps, offering families an affordable, flexible and engaging option for summer care. With limited spots remaining, camps will be held at 18 Y locations throughout metro Atlanta, providing youth with a season of adventure, learning and personal growth.
The Y’s Summer Day Camps feature themed programming each week, with activities ranging from outdoor adventures and creative arts to sports and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). Families can choose traditional camps focused on games, exploration and group activities, or specialty camps that allow children to dive deeper into interests like cooking, basketball, drama and more.
Designed to accommodate working parents, the Y’s Summer Day Camps offer extended care options, including Pre-Camp and Post-Camp hours. To make camps more accessible, the Y offers financial assistance, accepts state child care programs such as CAPS and provides automatic weekly rate discounts for families receiving free or reduced-price school meals.
“Our goal is to ensure every child has access to a meaningful summer experience, regardless of financial circumstances,” said Lauren Koontz, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “By offering flexible scheduling, financial assistance and dynamic programming, we’re helping families find solutions that work while giving kids a place to grow, connect and thrive.”
Camps are open to children ages 5-15, with preschool camps available at select locations. Programs run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with early care available from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and extended afternoon hours from 4 to 6 p.m.
For more information on camp offerings, age requirements, financial assistance and required forms, visit ymcaatlanta.org/camp/day-camp or contact your local YMCA branch.
