North and Central Georgia Face Heat and Thunderstorm Risks

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for north and central Georgia, with thunderstorms capable of producing lightning and heavy rain overnight and a greater risk of strong to severe storms this weekend. A Heat Advisory is also in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday for portions of east central Georgia, where heat index values could reach 106 degrees. Weekend storms may bring damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and localized flash flooding.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for north and central Georgia for Saturday, July 11.

The hazardous weather outlook states the following:

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north and central Georgia.

.DAY ONE…Tonight…

A few thunderstorms will remain possible overnight, capable of
producing lightning and brief heavy rainfall.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Saturday through Thursday…

A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 8 PM Saturday for
portions of east central Georgia where heat index values up to
106 are expected.

Numerous to widespread thunderstorms are likely this weekend. Some
storms may become strong to severe and capable of producing gusty
to damaging winds, frequent lightning, large hail, and localized
flash flooding concerns.
