According to AAA’s weekly report, Georgia drivers are seeing modest relief at the gas pump as gasoline prices begin to ease, driven by lower crude oil prices and reduced concerns over potential global supply disruptions. The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline is now $3.87, offering motorists some savings as the summer travel season comes to a close.

The decrease follows a recent decline in oil prices, which has lowered the cost of producing gasoline. While prices remain significantly higher than they were a year ago, the latest drop provides a welcome break for drivers heading into the late summer months.
“While drivers are beginning to see lower prices at the pump, it’s still a good time to look for ways to save on fuel,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Global events can quickly impact oil and gas prices, and uncertainty surrounding the Middle East remains a factor to watch.”

The average for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Cobb County is $3.92 this morning, about five cents more than the statewide average.
National Average Also Moves Lower
The national average for regular gasoline declined to $4.09 per gallon this week, down one cent from last week. Seasonal trends typically lead to lower gasoline demand in August as summer vacations wind down and families return to school and work. However, continued geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could place upward pressure on crude oil prices, potentially limiting further declines at the pump.
