Georgia gas prices rise to $3.79 a gallon as crude oil climbs

Georgia gas prices rose again this week, with drivers paying an average of $3.79 a gallon for regular gasoline as higher crude oil prices and uncertainty surrounding the war in the Middle East put renewed pressure on fuel costs.

The statewide average is 3 cents higher than a week ago, 7 cents higher than a month ago and 88 cents higher than a year ago, according to AAA. Filling a 15-gallon tank at the current average costs about $56.85.

“Georgia drivers are seeing gas prices climb again as global oil markets react to ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East. While pump prices remain volatile, drivers can save money by comparing prices and filling up where fuel costs less,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group.

EV Charging Rates

EV charging rates were hovering around 42 cents per kilowatt hour at commercial DC fast charging stations, both nationally and in Georgia.

Home charging is much cheaper, particularly during overnight off-peak hours.  Check your local utility provider for rates.

National gas prices also move higher

The national average for regular gasoline rose 5 cents this week to $4.06 a gallon. AAA said crude oil prices have climbed back above $80 a barrel amid continued uncertainty near the Strait of Hormuz.

Gasoline demand has softened, but higher oil costs continue to keep pump prices elevated.

What about Cobb prices?

The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cobb County is about $3.82, roughly three cents more than the statewide average.

Georgia metro gas prices

Atlanta has the highest average among Georgia metro markets at $3.83 a gallon, followed by Hinesville-Fort Stewart at $3.82 and Gainesville at $3.78.

The least expensive metro markets are Catoosa-Dade-Walker at $3.67, Rome at $3.70 and Albany at $3.73.
