The city of Powder Springs now has a place where FOUR-legged residents can romp.
Officials dedicated the city’s first off-leash dog park this week. It’s at 3899 Brownsville Road near downtown and is located within Powder Springs Park.
The park has plenty of distractions for Fido including “dog agility components” like ramps and
hoops, pet water fountains, two dog wash stations, shade structures and benches. It’s divided into two enclosed areas, one for larger dogs and the other for smaller pooches.
City spokesman Jon Gargis says the dog-friendly area constitutes the second and final phase of improvements to the larger park.
SPLOST funds paid for the majority of the project, with the rest financed by a grant from the Land Water Conservation Fund. In addition to the dog park, the project included restroom renovations and a new parking lot.
“This is something the public has been clamoring for,” said Gargis. ”It’s been on our SPLOST list for a couple of years.”
Gargis says the park will be open from sunrise to sunset.
