The Georgia Department of Transportation distributed the following announcement about Weekend Lane Closures on I-20, I-75 for Lighting Upgrades:
ATLANTA METRO – Crews for Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) crews will install lane closures on Interstate 75 (I-75) overpass tunnels in Cobb County and Interstate 20 (I-20) in Fulton County. These closures are a part of a project to upgrade the existing tunnel lighting to energy efficient LED and repair or replace lighting equipment at 14 key locations throughout metro Atlanta, including the ones listed below: the Connector at Capital Avenue/SR 154/Memorial Drive Overpass Tunnel, the Connector at Ralph McGill Boulevard at Baker Street Overpass Tunnel, and I-85 from I-75 to Lenox Road.
Weather permitting, these are the scheduled lane and ramp closures:
9 p.m. on Friday, August 14 until 5 a.m. on Monday
I-75 at Windy Hill Tunnel
- One right lane, one left lane and the shoulder lanes closed northbound or southbound
5 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 16
I-20 from Linkwood Drive to I-75/I-85 Connector
- One right lane closed on I-20 eastbound and westbound at McDaniel Street (exit 56A) and Lee Street (exit 55B) overpasses.
- One left lane closed on I-20 eastbound between Martin Luther King Jr Drive (exit 53) and the Westview Drive overpass bridge.
GDOT is investing $30 million in 14 projects to replace and upgrade the lighting in the overpass tunnels throughout metro Atlanta.
