The annual celebration of visual art of a fleeting nature is set for Oct.10-11 in downtown Marietta, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Chalktoberfest is an amalgamation of craft brewers along with top-of-their game chalk artists creating vibrant masterpieces Chalktoberfest is coming back to Marietta square.
City workers will block traffic on the streets immediately bordering the square as the artists use colorful chalk to create-right on the street.
The subjects are varied and sometimes fanciful- a knight riding a unicorn, and sometimes down to earth-a peasant drinking from a jug of water or a quarterback readying a downfield pass. Fantasy themes are fodder for a fair number of the than 80 artists attending.
The event is a project of the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art and is open and free for the public to view. The beer festival on Saturday is ticketed, however.
