Cobb & Douglas Public Health distributed the following announcement:
Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) is pleased to announce it has received a $374,611 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS).
The grant will help finance the provision of child passenger safety education and distribution of car and booster seats to financially eligible residents of Cobb and Douglas counties. This funding helps ensure Georgia’s children are safe while riding in motor vehicles.
“Innovative projects like this are designed with the intent for Georgia and our nation to reach the realistic goal of zero traffic deaths by the middle of this century,” said Allen Poole, Director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. “Each life saved on our roads is one less family that will have to live with the pain of losing a loved one whose life was taken from them in a traffic crash that was completely preventable.”
“We are deeply appreciative of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety’s generous support,” said Lisa Crossman, District Deputy Director of Cobb & Douglas Public Health. “This important contribution will enable Safe Kids Cobb and Safe Kids Douglas to continue providing essential car seat inspections, safety education, and access to car seats for families in need. The GOHS’ support plays a vital role in helping keep our youngest community members safe.”
The grant year for this award will be October 1 of 2026 to September 30 of 2027.
