The City of Marietta announced on its website that the Marietta History Center will continue its tombstone cleaning workshops this spring after strong community interest in earlier sessions, offering participants a chance to help preserve the city’s history through hands-on instruction.
The next workshop is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon, weather permitting, at Marietta City Cemetery, 420 West Atlanta St., Marietta, Georgia 30064.
Led by Marietta History Center Collections Manager Christa McCay, M.H.P., the workshop will teach attendees proper techniques for cleaning and maintaining historic tombstones. Organizers said the goal is to help protect the monuments and ensure they remain for future generations.
Registration is open and space is limited to 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $25 for nonmembers and $15 for members. Members must call or email cmccay@mariettaga.gov to receive a ticket purchase link.
Organizers said refunds will be issued only if the Marietta History Center cancels the event.
The Marietta History Center said the workshop supports its mission to ignite curiosity in Marietta’s history by connecting people through compelling stories and engaging experiences.
