Georgia’s average price for regular gasoline fell 8 cents over the past week to $3.73 a gallon, but rising crude oil prices could slow further declines, according to AAA.
The statewide average is 36 cents lower than last month but 91 cents higher than a year ago. Filling a 15-gallon tank at the current average costs about $55.95.
AAA said crude oil prices rose sharply Friday amid concerns about global supply disruptions, potentially putting renewed pressure on prices at the pump.
“Crude oil prices and potential supply disruptions remain factors to watch for drivers,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “While market conditions remain uncertain, drivers can help manage fuel costs by shopping around for the best prices, taking advantage of fuel rewards programs, and planning trips efficiently.”
Atlanta average reaches $3.75 a gallon
Atlanta’s average price of $3.75 a gallon was among the highest of Georgia’s metro markets. Savannah had the highest average at $3.83, followed by Hinesville-Fort Stewart at $3.78.
The lowest metro averages were in Albany at $3.57, Catoosa-Dade-Walker at $3.61 and Brunswick at $3.64.
Cobb County prices
The average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded in Cobb County this morning was $3.73, the same as the statewide average.
EV charging rates
EV charging rates were hovering around 42 cents per kilowatt hour at commercial DC fast charging stations nationally, and roughly one cent less in Georgia.
Home charging is much cheaper, particularly during overnight off-peak hours. Check your local utility provider for rates.
National gas average falls to $4.29
The national average for regular gasoline fell 6 cents over the past week to $4.29 a gallon. AAA said elevated crude oil prices and market volatility continue to limit the seasonal decline in fuel costs typically seen during the fall.
