According to a public information release from Officer Chuck McPhilamy of the Marietta Police Department, the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating an accident resulting in serious injury to a pedestrian that occurred on South Marietta Parkway near Victory Drive on December 29, 2022, at approximately 6:38 p.m.
Investigators state that a 40-year-old Marietta man was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon eastbound on South Marietta Parkway.
A 62-year-old Marietta man crossed South Marietta Parkway outside a crosswalk and was struck by the Yukon. The pedestrian was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Yukon was not injured and remained at the scene of the accident.
According to the public information release, no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant B. Honea at (770) 794-5344.
