As I wrote last week, River Edges is due for a name change. I’m going through the process of setting up a Limited Liability Corporation and applying for a business license. While reading the instructions and working down the checklist, I discovered an existing LLC in Georgia with a name similar to River Edges. Further, River Edges has always been a little confusing as a name for a news site. It was easier to justify in the beginning when most of our articles were about Mableton and Smyrna, both of which are very close to the Chattahoochee River.
Lately, though, we’ve run articles about Marietta, Kennesaw, and a part of East Cobb far from the river. We are a news site that reports on Cobb County. So the name Cobb County Courier covers both bases in a straightforward way. It clearly conveys what we do, and where we do it.
It will probably take about two weeks to fully make the transition. In the meantime, you may notice that the names of things on our site have changed, one at a time, like something from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Don’t be alarmed. It’s just us, preparing to provide you with community-focused news.
