Holiday events across Cobb County — October through December

The 2017 holiday season has arrived, even if the temperature outside doesn’t reflect it. Cobb County is home to several seasonal festivities for adults and children.

October 14-15  Marietta Square

Chalktoberfest is presented by the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art and takes place Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday from 11-5. It includes the chalk art festival with professional artists, live music and craft beer festival. Advance tickets to participate in Saturday’s beer festival are $40-45 and $50 at the door. The rest of the event is free.

October 20-21  Acworth

Allatoona High School Haunted Trail For the bargain price of $5, let the Fine Arts Department spook you on a guided walk on campus from 7-11 pm.

October 21  Powder Springs

Spooktacular Chase The annual 5k and 10k costumed races benefit Vision Rehabilitation  Services of Georgia and take place in Historic Powder Springs.

October 27-28  Kennesaw

Owl-O-Ween The fifth annual hot air balloon festival and costume party takes place at Kennesaw State University’s Sports & Entertainment Park. There will be live music, kids’ activities, balloon rides and more. Adult tickets are $14 and kids are $6. It is recommended to purchase parking in advance.

October 27-28  Smyrna

Fall Jonquil Festival The community center at 200 Village Green Circle will host food, inflatables, a children’s costume parade, puppets, craft booths and music on Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 12-5.

October 28  Acworth

Halloween Jambooree Carnival games, hayrides and costume contests for the family at 4762 Logan Road.



November 4  Kennesaw

Taste of Kennesaw Thirty local restaurants will offer samples in Downtown Kennesaw from 11-8 pm. Tastes cost $1-4. There will also be live music and activities.

November 4 Acworth

Acworth Beer Festival Head to Historic Downtown Acworth from 1-5 pm to sample over 100 craft beers, 25 wines and hear live music. Tickets range from $35-50.

November 10-12  Mableton

A Christmas Story the Musical The Theatre Project will perform the musical version of the classic film for three nights at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. Tickets are $10 and tables are $72. Children 12 and under are free.

November 18  Acworth

9th Annual Turkey Chase 5k Fun Run and 2k Walk

November 17-January 3  Marietta Square

Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa on the Square Once again, the Square will transform into a Winter Wonderland with an ice skating rink, visits from Santa and tree lighting ceremony.

November 23-December 31  Marietta

Lights of LIFE Life University is holding its annual drive-through light show with train rides and a petting zoo. $5-10 per car.


 December 1  Austell

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Collar Park. Food, games, and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. 6 pm.

December 1  Powder Springs

A Storybook Christmas Parade and tree lighting at 5:30 pm in Downtown Powder Springs.


December 2  Kennesaw

A Day with Santa Parade, costumes and kids’ activities in Downtown Kennesaw from noon – 6pm.

December 2-3  Marietta

The Marietta Pilgrimage Tour six private decorated homes on a tour that has been named a Top 100 Event in North America. Day tour is $30 and candlelight tour is $25.

December 3  East Cobb Park

Holiday Lights Celebration from 5-7pm with Santa, tree lighting and music. Free.

December 9  Kennesaw

Breakfast with Santa 8-9:30 am. Ben Robertson Community Center. $6

December 9  Marietta Square

Sleighbells on the Square 5k/1k/Tot Trot A Peachtree qualifying race that benefits the Children’s Emergency Fund.

December 17  Six Flags Over Georgia

Tacky Sweater Party Half-priced admission for guests wearing a tacky Christmas sweater.


December 18  Marietta Square

Menorah Lighting in Glover Park with food and a photo booth. 6:30-7:30 pm.


December 31  Marietta Square


New Year’s Eve The celebration will start and 6 pm and continue until 1 am. Details to come.
