When will the Cobb senior centers reopen?

A question we hear regularly is: when will the Cobb Senior Centers reopen? The short answer is that a date to reopen has not been announced.

In early July, Cobb Senior Services announced that the Freeman Poole Senior Center, the North Cobb Senior Center. the Senior Wellness Center, and the West Cobb Senior Center would reopen with limitations and restrictions.

But due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Cobb County and in Georgia, the plan to begin phased reopening was postponed.

Cobb Senior Services, in their newsletter distributed yesterday, wrote:

We miss you and look forward to having you back with us. Even though the senior centers are closed, we are still providing services to older residents of Cobb County such as: Meals on Wheels to homebound clients; transporting seniors to medical appointments, pharmacies, and grocery stores; emergency financial assistance due to the impact of COVID-19; care management and community resources; and more.

During the past several months, CSS has been able to hold food distributions to residents age 60+. Since April 16 we have given out more than 2 ,200 hot meals and 2,477 boxes of shelf stable food.

Watch for an announcement for this program to resume.
