Vanderlande Industries, a logistics company headquartered in Veghel, Netherlands, will expand its operations in Cobb County.
Their U.S. headquarters is in Marietta, and the expansion will reportedly bring their total employment in the county to over 1,250 people in Georgia.
The company specializes in logistical systems in airports and warehouses, including baggage-handling and parcel sorting.
According to a news release from Cobb County, the company intends to spend nearly $60 million on the project, and the expected increase in the company’s workforce here will add 500 jobs.
“We are ecstatic that a company like Vanderlande is choosing to expand in Cobb County, bringing with them 500 skilled and stable jobs,” Cobb County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Lisa Cupid was quoted in the news release. “This is yet another example of how companies of all industries view Cobb as an attractive place for their employees to work.”
“Georgia’s world-class logistics network continues to set businesses up for success,” said Governor Brian Kemp for the state’s press release announcing the expansion. “Vanderlande’s commitment to creating hundreds of jobs for hardworking Georgians also speaks to the high-quality workforce pipeline in our state. I look forward to seeing Vanderlande continue to prosper and create jobs in the number one state for business.”
The press release, distributed by Georgia.org, the website of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, stated that the company has been in Cobb County for 23 years.
“We are looking forward to moving into our new North American head office here in Marietta, Georgia,” said Nick Porter, President of Vanderlande’s Airports & Parcel Solutions, North America for the Georgia.org press release. “Vanderlande continues to enjoy our relationship with the local community, educational institutions, and service providers. Our new campus supports our ability to expand our local teams to meet the growth in our business, and to support our North American customers with the innovative, efficient, and effective solutions they need.”
According to the Vanderlande company website:
