According to a public information release from Officer Chuck McPhilamy of the Marietta Police Department, a hit-and-run on Delk Road left a pedestrian in critical condition. Marietta’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is investigating. The incident occurred yesterday, June 4, 2023, at approximately 11:38 PM on Delk Road at Interstate 75.
The public information release describes the incident as follows:
The initial on-scene investigation revealed that forty-year-old Oscar Sanchez of Houston, Texas, was walking along Delk Road when he was struck by a white 1995 Ford F-150. The driver of the Ford failed to remain at the scene and did not call 911 or attempt to render any aid. The Ford F-150 was last seen entering I-75 northbound from Delk Road. Hernandez was transported to Wellstar Kennetone Regional Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
