The City of Kennesaw announced in a press release that the city, along with Kennesaw Parks & Recreation, unveiled a new Fit Station at Swift-Cantrell Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, October 25.
Located at 3140 Old 41 Hwy NW, the Fit Station aims to offer more fitness opportunities for the community. It focuses on strength, balance, and core exercises.
Bill McNair, the Director of Kennesaw Parks & Recreation, was quoted in the press release stating that the new equipment was developed in response to feedback from park visitors and is designed for users of all ages and abilities.
The Fit Station measures 24 by 54 feet and includes 12 exercise stations, such as a Cardio Walker, Recumbent Cycle, Chest Press, and Balance Board, all on a rubberized surface for accessibility. It supports a complete workout, targeting aerobic fitness, muscle strength, balance, core stability, and flexibility. The area is also equipped with solar lights to ensure proper illumination during park hours. The project was funded through impact fees.
According to the press release:
Swift-Cantrell Park is one of Kennesaw’s most popular recreational spaces, spanning 42 acres and attracting thousands of visitors. The park offers a one-mile paved walking track, two age-specific playgrounds, a splash pad, three picnic pavilions, three dog parks, and a state-of-the-art skate park. It is also home to the Life University Wellness Station, which has been highly popular with visitors. Following community input requesting more outdoor fitness equipment that targets core strength and balance, the Fit Station was developed to meet these demands.
Kennesaw remains dedicated to encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle for residents of all ages. The Fit Station is the latest addition to help citizens achieve their fitness goals.
