An autopsy and police investigative work have brought out new details in the killing of Shanteria Mosley, whose dismembered remains were found at a Smyrna apartment complex last week.
A medical examiner’s autopsy revealed that Mosley, 25, was shot in the head.
And Smyrna Police Lt. Meredith Holt told the Courier that Mosley was killed sometime between 10 a.m. and noon Sept. 23, based on witness statements and uncovered evidence.
Family members say they started searching the Park Valley complex after her cellphone and car were found in the area. They contacted Smyrna Police. An officer arrived, looked around, knocked on doors and left, apparently finding no evidence of a crime.
Some time later, a witness reported a man was carrying a plastic tub through the complex. Police say when he saw someone approaching, he ran and discarded it. A human torso was found inside. Police returned to the scene, and a suspect was arrested and charged with concealing the death of another.
On Friday, authorities executed a search warrant on a vehicle and found trash bags containing body parts in the trunk. Charges against Kingston Bradley, the 18-year-old suspect, were upgraded to malice murder.
The young man remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Information on any possible motive and whether the victim and suspect knew each other has not been released.
Reports have surfaced that the victim left her home to do DoorDash deliveries, but the company reportedly said that she was not on the clock that day.
